Our greatest desire at Open Doors Church And World Outreach is for you to experience the abundant life that God purchased for you at the awesome price of His only begotten Son, Jesus. Ps 23:5 says, "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies." God has set before everyone a wonderful banquet table of blessings that He has provided for us through His great and wonderful plan of redemption. I have often said, "How dare we allow those blessings to rot on the banquet table of redemption when they were purchased at the awesome price of the blood of Jesus Christ."
God wants you to have everything He's made available to you. That's abundant life! It's the reason Jesus came, died on Calvary and lives today - to see to it that whoever believes in Him might have life, "and that they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10). This page is dedicated to helping you to receive some of these all-important redemptive benefits, that you might begin living that abundant life right now.
We also want to encourage you to find a good Bible believing church that can help you continue to grow in your spiritual life. If you live in the Burlington area, we would love to see you make Open Doors Church And World Outreach your home church. However, if you are visiting our web site from somewhere out of our area, we would be happy to assist you in finding a church where you live that can minister to you and your family. We are here to serve you. May God richly bless you as you seek to know Him more!
Salvation: The New Birth
2 Corinthians 5:17 (New King James Version)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
The first and greatest blessing that anyone can receive from God is a changed life through the new birth. When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, their sin alienated them from God. As Romans 6:23 tells us, "The wages of sin is death." Spiritual death is separation from God and from His life and nature. As sons of Adam, we are all born with that fallen nature, separated from the God who created us . Your fallen condition is not so much an issue of your failures, but of a fallen nature you inherited from your father, Adam (Romans 5:12).
Thankfully, God was not willing to lose Man to sin, so He provided a remedy even before Adam transgressed and fell in the Garden. Jesus was the Lamb of God, "...slain from the foundation of the world." (Revelation 13:8). Jesus came to earth to take our place in death, suffering the punishment we deserved. He willingly became the object of God's wrath that you and I may enjoy the forgiveness of sin and a changed life through the power of the indwelling Spirit. As the above verse says, when we come to God through Christ Jesus, we are made new. Jesus used the term "born again" (John 3:3). The old sin nature is replaced by the nature of God which is love (Romans 5:5, 1 John 4:8). A heart that enjoyed wickedness is replaced with a heart that delights in serving God by loving others.
This new life is found only one way - through faith in Jesus and His sacrificial death, burial, and resurrection. He died that we might live. Because He died for our sins only, and had none of His own, death could not hold Him, and when the price was paid for the sins of mankind, God raised Him victorious over death, hell, and the grave!
Romans 10:9-11 NKJV
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."
Your part is simply twofold. First you must believe that God sent Jesus into the earth as Man's sacrifice for sin, died in our stead, and was raised again, victorious over sin and death. Secondly, you must, from a heart of faith, act on what you believe and confess Him as your Lord and Savior. To act, or confess, without faith is vain, as is believing without acting on what you believe. You must believe Jesus died and was raised as the scriptures teach, and confess Him as your Lord. It's as simple as that. If you would like to enter into a new life with Christ and be assured having eternal life, pray this prayer from your heart to God. The prayer is not a magic formula, but simply a means of helping you release your faith in Jesus. Pray this aloud, from your heart, to the Lord.
"Dear God, I believe Jesus came to this earth and died for me. I believe He took my place in death, that I might be freed from sin and all its consequence, now and forever. I receive what Jesus did as full payment for my sins, and I accept Him as my Savior and Lord. Jesus, come into my heart and make me a new creation with the life and nature of God. Thank you, God for saving me! I am your child!"
The Apostle John said these assuring words...
1 John 5:13 NKJV
These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
If you prayed that prayer from your heart, you can know that you are saved! Thank God! You have eternal life - the life of God which involves having His nature of love and goodness.
